you a skateboard video like never seen before...
::: punishing of barriers :::
this past weekend
was a dynamite festival of wonder for skateboarders of all shapes
and sizes.
the new* villa
villa cola* video "getting nowhere faster" brought to you
by element skateboards premiered here in vancouver and it was a hit!!
the night before
the premiere vvc and antisocial gallery hosted a "making of getting
nowhere faster" art show featuring photos, props, and costumes
from the video as well as extraordinary dioramas made by faye jaime
and the reflections puzzle club?s puzzle of the year.
we held a dance
party cake walk and gave away tons of cupcakes, gingerbread men, and
cakes, along with other prizes donated such as accessories, dvds,
vvc t-shirts, skateboard decks, and stickers. the cakewalk-dance-party
eventually escalated into a pants-optional affair. for the grand finale
however it was then transformed into a passionately lofted empty beer
can exchange between the people on the dance floor and the people
on the dj loft upstairs accompanied by an ominous and all-permeating
soundtrack of burzum.
the next day a
skateboarding workshop was held for women and girls at the rds indoor
skatepark. It was called "skateover, it?s not a makeover"
and there were about 60 girls signed up for the workshop along with
close to a baker?s dozen of vvc xips including vanessa torres, amy
caron, nugget*, van nguyen, and faye jaime.
